Experts: Tinkoff Bank named among 13 world’s profitable e-banks

MOSCOW, Aug 27 (PRIME) -- Only 13 digital banks, including Russia’s Tinkoff Bank, out of 249 existing in the world are profitable, according to a Boston Consulting Group (BCG) research seen by PRIME on Friday.

Profitable digital banks created very strong retail offers, Natalya Gerashchenko, senior partner and managing director at BCG, said.

“The other uniting factor for the leaders is either support from a large well-established company with noticeable business expertise or availability of a widespread ecosystem,” she said.

According to the research, 10 out of the 13 profitable banks are located in the Asia-Pacific area and three in Europe.
